Step & Spine Physical Therapy hires two new physical therapists

September 25, 2015

BEND, OR – Step & Spine Physical Therapy co-founder and lead physical therapist, Barrett Ford, PT, is pleased to announce the addition of two new physical therapists to his clinical staff. John Hilt, DPT, and Siiri Berg, PT, OCS, recently began seeing clients at Step & Spine’s Redmond and Bend clinics, respectively.

Step & Spine Physical Therapy is a private practice that sees clients in its Sisters, Redmond and Bend clinics. Its Bend location, a 4,000-square-foot clinic, opened in August of this year.

“With the growth we’ve experienced in recent years comes the opportunity to welcome some incredibly talented and experienced physical therapists to our staff,” Ford said. “Both John and Siiri bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our practice, helping us continue our track record of positive outcomes for our clients.”

A 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master of physical therapy, Berg is an APTA Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). Such training makes her an expert in treating bone, joint and muscle ailments, such as injuries to the spine, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot and ankle.

Berg is also specially trained to work with golfers and runners and has considerable experience working with gymnasts, dancers and those who practice martial arts. She also treats balance and deconditioning issues, primarily as they affect the elderly.

“My clientele have included those with a wide range of abilities and ailments, from young and high-level athletes to post-operative patients, aging adults, and those suffering from chronic pain and balance issues,” Berg said. “I enjoy the educational aspect of physical therapy, having given lectures, presentations, and participating as a coach for walking and running clubs in the area.”

Hilt earned his doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) at Regis University in Denver. Before relocating to Central Oregon, he worked at a sports medicine and post-operative facility where he discovered his interest in working with people dealing with orthopedic impairments – issues with bones, joints and muscles. He also enjoys working with young athletes.

Hilt is currently working toward his certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SPMA) Level 1, and Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).

“The moment I walked into Step & Spine Physical Therapy, I knew it was a special clinic and a fit for my personal goals to help as many individuals as I can,” Hilt said. “The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and encouraging to every patient and their peers.”
