Portland, OR, March 24, 2017—As Republicans were forced to call off the vote on the ACA repeal bill, Grayson Dempsey, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon, issued the following statement:
“The failure of Republicans to take away essential health care coverage from millions of Americans is a victory for all of the individuals and organizations who called, rallied, tweeted and contacted their representatives to let them know that they would not stand for this short-sighted political grandstanding. The ACA has radically expanded economic freedom and opportunity in our country, especially for the millions of women who have access to affordable birth control for the first time. We still have a long road ahead of us, but today we celebrate those who stood up against the Trump administration and insisted that Congress protect this life-saving legislation."
