Patients of Legacy Medical Group in Woodburn will soon have to find new care options if they want to stay local.
That’s because, according to a letter sent to current patients earlier this month, the Legacy Medical Group Woodburn Clinic will permanently close on Dec. 31, 2024. Meanwhile, that physician is moving 20 miles north.
“Legacy Medical Group has made the difficult decision to close the Woodburn clinic at 1002 N. Boones Ferry Road,” Legacy Medical Group said in a statement. “Dr. Brian Bedolla will transition his practice to Legacy Medical Group-Bridgeport in Lake Oswego starting in the new year.”
Legacy informed the clinic's patients that their current physician would be available at the Woodburn clinic location until the end of the year for follow-up care and other health concerns.
However, after Dec. 31, patients of the Woodburn clinic can schedule virtual appointments with their primary care physician or visit them in person at the Bridgeport clinic in Lake Oswego.
Despite the clinic closure, Legacy Medical Group’s Woodburn Health Center at 1475 Mt. Hood Ave. will remain fully operational and is currently accepting patients.
The Woodburn Health Center provides primary care for all ages, internal medicine and therapy and counseling.
While the effects of the Woodburn closure are yet to be seen, the city already faces a deficit in local medical care centers. Woodburn does not have a hospital within the city limits, and the closest hospital is Legacy Medical Center in Silverton, 13 miles south of the city.
Following the closure of Legacy Medical in Woodburn, the city will have three remaining general primary care offices: the Salud Medical Center, Woodburn Legacy Health Center, and the Salem Health Medical Clinic-Woodburn.
