Healthcare Communicators of Oregon Spring Conference to be held Friday, June 10

Portland, Ore. – May 18, 2016 – Healthcare Communicators of Oregon (HCO) will hold its spring conference on Friday, June 10th from 10:00a.m. – 3:00p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Eugene/Springfield (3528 Gateway Street) in Springfield, Oregon.

The keynote speaker will be Eric Switzer, Associate Vice President, Brand Strategy and Marketing at OHSU who will discuss “Co-branding in Health Care: Keeping Both Brand Equities.” Switzer will share valuable insights about the increasing trend of collaboration among health care systems, and discuss the complexities of co-branding these relationships.

The spring conference will feature workshops with:

  • Philip Schmidt, Associate Vice President for Public Affairs at the Oregon Association of Hospitals & Health Systems, will provide an overview of the current government affairs landscape.
  • Neola Young, Principal Consultant at Neola H. Young Consulting, will share thoughts on how health organizations can adjust marketing and communication approaches to better serve LGBTQ communities and patients.
  • Jason Davis, Public Information Officer for Lane County Health & Human Services, will share his thoughts on emergency response public health communications and how to navigate various communication challenges, from disease outbreaks to public health policy changes.
  • Debi Farr, Director of Government and Public Affairs for Trillium Community Health Plan, will share her thoughts on fostering relationships between health care professionals, patients and key stakeholders.

“As health care continues to evolve, we’re seeing more opportunity in the industry for collaboration across organizations, and connecting with patients and the community,” said Christina Vander Werf, president of HCO’s board of directors.

Formed in 1985, HCO is the Pacific Northwest’s only marketing and communications organization that focuses solely on the health care industry. HCO is a resource for industry professionals to learn from national and regional experts, share case studies and network with peers.
