October 11, 2012 -- After more than 37 years serving the Cornelius community, the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center is proud to announce the grand opening of the newly constructed Cornelius Wellness Center and will mark the occasion with two days of events.

WHAT
The first event, the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012, and features a program, tours of the Wellness Center, cooking demonstrations in the teaching kitchen, and a mariachi band. Following the opening activities, Virginia Garcia will host a fair offering free health screenings, community resources, entertainment and children’s activities from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The second event, the Virginia Garcia Walk for Wellness, will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012. The two-mile walk begins and ends at the Wellness Center and features a route around Cornelius from Metro’s ¡Vámonos! project. Tours of the Wellness Center, chair massages, complimentary health checks, a small farmer’s market and a pumpkin patch are among the activities that will follow Saturday’s walk.
