PORTLAND, Ore.—The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) released its Hospital Transformation Performance Program (HTPP) report this morning, ranking Adventist Medical Center in southeast Portland first on the list of 28 participating Oregon hospitals for its dedication to patient safety and quality of care.
Adventist Medical Center will be awarded more than $22.3 million for meeting or exceeding 10 out of 11 of the Oregon Health Authority’s hospital quality improvement metrics.

HTPP was designed by OHA’s Hospital Metrics Advisory Committee to measure 11 quality health metrics for Oregon hospitals participating in the continuous improvement program. From October 2013 to September 2015, Oregon hospitals were measured on transformation and patient safety improvements. The metrics were categorized into six domains: readmissions, medication safety, patient experience, healthcare-associated infections, behavioral health, and enhanced coordination between emergency and primary care physicians.
Following the release of the HTPP report, Andy Davidson, the president and CEO of the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS), commended Adventist Health for joining with other Oregon hospitals in transforming the quality of healthcare in Oregon.

The Hospital Transformation Performance Program is part of Oregon’s waiver with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Through this waiver and this program, hospitals are key to demonstrating new models and metrics that achieve better health, better care and lower costs. Ultimately, programs like these serve as a model for the nation on how to improve the quality and value of health care.
