Midwives Retain Status Quo with PEBB

The Public Employee Benefit Board will leave decisions about midwives up to their licensing board
September 23, 2010 – Midwives got a reprieve when the Public Employee Benefit Board met earlier this week. Rather than come up with criteria to determine when a birth attended by a midwife should be paid by Providence Health Plans, the board decided to leave that decision in the hands of the licensing agency, the Board of Direct Entry Midwifery.
