September 4, 2009 -- Rocky King will become the senior health reform policy advisor to Corey Stresinger, director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services, on Oct. 1.
In that capacity, King will have a front row seat in revamping Oregon’s insurance system. He’ll lead DCBS’s work with the Oregon Health Authority on the health insurance exchange, reinsurance options, value-based benefit designs and other market reforms.
For the past 20 years King has run the Oregon Medical Insurance Pool, which was created under his leadership. That program offers insurance to people denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
The Family Health Insurance Assistance Program, also under King’s leadership, helps uninsured Oregonians pay their monthly premiums for private health coverage.
