FamilyCare CCO Begins Serving OHP Patients
August 1, 2012 -- Today marks the first day that FamilyCare’s Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) will begin serving Oregon Health Plan (OHP) patients. FamilyCare is one of eight CCOs that were certified earlier this year to lead Oregon’s Health Transformation effort aimed at providing better care at a lower cost to patients. FamilyCare is the first CCO to operate in the tri-county area (Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas).
“This is a monumental day for FamilyCare and other health care organizations across the state. We are excited to pioneer this process and look forward to implementing a more innovative and sustainable approach to care,” said FamilyCare President Jeff Heatherington.
FamilyCare’s current OHP members will not see much of a change to their covered benefits and services at this time. Instead, it is the behind-the-scenes delivery system that will change. FamilyCare’s new CCO model will be more patient-centered, with a focus on service coordination and prevention. FamilyCare’s overall goal is to improve access to care, quality of care, and to better manage health care costs.
