Children’s Relief Nursery Becomes Official Program of LifeWorks NW
July 6, 2012 -- The Children’s Relief Nursery has become an official program of LifeWorks NW effective July 1, announced Mary Monnat, LifeWorks NW President & CEO. This step represents an increased commitment to the families both organizations serve and establishes a best-in-class approach to meeting the needs of the greater community.
Children's Relief Nursery is a non-profit organization, which has been providing cost-effective child abuse prevention services in North Portland since 2001 and in Southeast Portland since 2011.
LifeWorks NW was founded in 1961 and is based in Portland, Oregon with clinics and service centers throughout Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas Counties. The non-profit organization provides mental health, addiction and prevention services. LifeWorks NW has been a mental health partner of the Children’s Relief Nursery for the past eight years.
“We are very excited about this merger as it is on the cutting edge of human services innovation,” said Monnat. “By merging, we will build capacity, create efficiencies, drive innovation, and deliver wraparound services to clients in North Portland and East Multnomah County.”
The Children’s Relief Nursery model and name will remain and the program will continue to provide services from its North Portland location as well as the newer Southeast Portland location. The Children’s Relief Nursery will operate under the 501(c)(3) exemption of LifeWorks NW and therefore become a program of LifeWorks NW. The North nursery site will be adding additional mental health and addiction services and clients at the east county location will benefit from other LifeWorks NW services offered within the geographic area.
Two members of the Children’s Relief Nursery Board will continue their community service as members of the LifeWorks NW Board of Directors. We welcome Wayne Pipes and Janis Fujii in their new role.
