About the Opportunity:

Main Purpose of the Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist role is to provide psychiatric assessment, treatment, and oversight of all cases assigned to their care, and the provision of clinical leadership to assigned treatment teams. They should also be able to assist in providing administrative and educational support to assigned programs as designated by the TFS Chief Medical Officer.

Successful candidate must have successfully completed a general psychiatry residency and postdoctoral fellowship in child psychiatry and must be licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners and have DEA certificate to prescribe schedule II medications including benzodiazepines and stimulants.  Staff psychiatrists must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with child and adolescent psychiatric patients. 

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

  • Collaborate with TFS Access department in determining the appropriateness of referred cases to Trillium Family Services’ programs.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations that include a DSM-5 and ICD-10 diagnosis of all youth entering their assigned programs.
  • Participate in Treatment Planning Reviews of all assigned cases and taking a leadership role in updating, approving, and conferring with team members on the Master Treatment Plan, Reviews and Discharges for all assigned clinical programs.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for all psychiatric appointments.
  • Monitor and assess overall client care. Be available to lead discussions during Clinical Review Board meetings on assigned cases.
  • Order and review prescriptions for psychotropic drugs as clinically indicated.
  • Complete in a timely manner all clinical documentation as required by agency policy and in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Assist treatment team in obtaining consultation from indicated medical specialists and allied health professionals.

Job Knowledge:

In addition to having a general knowledge of child psychiatric assessment and treatment, all staff psychiatrists are expected to be familiar with the TFS policies and procedures as they pertain to the care of their assigned cases. They are also expected to be familiar with governmental guidelines, community standards for psychiatric care, and American Psychiatric Association professional standards regarding ethical behavior. This general level of knowledge will enable staff psychiatrists to meet the goal that they be able to work independently without the need for constant supervision. The TFS Chief Medical Officer will assist staff psychiatrists regarding questions pertaining to any of the aforementioned knowledge requirements.
