Housecall Providers announces new board members and officers

Portland, Ore., July 19, 2016 - Housecall Providers, a health care nonprofit dedicated to providing quality, home-centered medical care for the homebound announced today that four new members have been selected to serve on the organization’s board of directors. New board members include John Folawn, Sharon Graugnard, Suzanne Simmons, and Sara Yen.

John Folawn is currently Of Counsel with his firm FAR Law. Regarded as one of the best trial lawyers in Oregon, John has helped shape law in Oregon for more than 40 years and counseled clients on matters across the Pacific Northwest. He has completed the Sacred Art of Living and Dying program in Bend, OR and is a former Housecall Providers patient volunteer.

Sharon Graugnard has been providing strategic counsel to health care organizations for more than 35 years. She is the founder and principle of Volant Strategies, a consulting firm specializing in supporting executives in the health care, IT and sustainability industries.

Suzanne Simmons is the Vice Chair for Administration, Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Oregon Health Science University. Suzanne has an extensive background in finance, operations, and compliance and well as a passion for ensuring that the underserved have access to quality medical care.

Sara Yen is an Elder law attorney specializing in estate planning, probate, and trust administration issues. Her desire to serve others led her to start her own law firm in 2004. Sara has served Housecall Providers patients and family members in the past and was drawn to board service because of her strong belief in the organization’s mission.

“With new growth and exciting opportunities on the horizon for Housecall Providers, I am thrilled with the talent, expertise, and energy our new members will be bringing to our group,” said Housecall Providers Board President, Woody English, MD.

The board also elected the following officers: President, Woody English, MD (retired); Secretary, Annette Kendall, Private Banker, First Republic Bank; and Treasurer, Kathy Jones (retired).

About Housecall Providers

Housecall Providers is a Portland, Oregon-based nonprofit primary care medical practice and hospice service devoted exclusively to making home medical visits, or house calls, to patients who have great difficulty leaving their residence. A typical Housecall Providers patient is elderly with complex medical issues and multiple chronic disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Founded in 1995, Housecall Providers is led by Executive Director, Terri Hobbs and Medical Director, Dr. Pamela Miner. It employs over 90 people and cares for nearly 2,000 patients annually. To date, its clinicians have made more than 150,000 house calls.
